Dear Members,
It’s Tuesday! Time to order! For January 27 and 28
Feeling the need for a jump start? A cleanse RA style? Go to www.rawpaleo.com. Melissa Henig is doing some interesting things. Check her out on Facebook lots of pictures and videos about the baby and she’s doing some really good things like this cleanse.
I was talking with a new friend, Karen, and we had such a good conversation about food and health and farming practices. I suggested she check out Joel Salatin and his Polyface Farm on YouTube, Alan Savory on Ted Talks and the web, with his Holistic Management practices, Geoff Lawton and permies.com for Permaculture, and the Groasis watering system. The last one is something anyone can used to get around having to water food plants and trees. LA has water in the ground, and not far. Look at all the trees all over that are not watered. Every empty yard or lot could be an orchard with grass and chickens. Just saying. . .
Dawn Gunther and I were talking yesterday and she gave me some good leads for seafood which I’m following up on. And oysters! Clean sources. We came to this conclusion that people think that the Primal Diet is unique and special; is for those of us who are more sensitive. But we both agreed that people don’t really know what this is until they’ve done it for a while till they actually eat the food. We didn’t; it took a while. It actually became very different when we went to one hundred percent raw from 95% to 100%. It made a huge difference. And people don’t know. People don’t know what it’s like to actually eat the way our body naturally eats. The whole world has been sucked into cooking food. The whole world thinks that that is normal and thinks that the way they feel is normal and how their body functions is normal. They have no idea what is normal.
I think our main challenge is to make sure we get enough diversity in our diet. I get locked into just eating the same food over and over because it’s easy; it’s what I get from the farm and that’s what I can afford. It’s challenging to stay on top of it, to listen to your body, to follow cravings for the actual thing you need and not for some taste craving or mental indulgence. The need for minerals is actually huge. We need to get food from different locations; some fish from somewhere in a different part of the country or something like oysters from the east coast. Herbs are great mineral sources. We can experiment more with different sauces and fancy dishes. They’re not just to make the food more fun and tasty. You actually need to some of these herbs and their phytochemicals and minerals and vitamins in small quantities. They can be added to your juice or add it to your meat meal or even in your milk.
Yes it takes a little more time but always saves so much time with what we eat and as compared to actually cooking food in your house yourself. Yes cooked food can be faster because someone else is doing the prep and you pick it up somewhere else or you buy it frozen or whatever. I think the number of people who actually fix real meals from scratch in their home these days is very small.
Probably those of you members in our group who do eat cooked food are some of those.
My purpose here is to remind you that you need to eat lots of different things. A different kind of meat. A different kind of milk; mix it up get some sheep milk or get some goat milk once in a while. Try different cheeses. Different herbs, different juices, different oranges, berries. Pineapple from a different place. Try a new fruit, or an old favorite!
Eat things that attract you that are real food, and see how you feel.
Love to you all!
