Greetings from Willow Run Foods where we continue to experience wet conditions. Beginning of September there was again some flooding west of here. (Not in this immediate area.) Throughout the rest of the month the damp/wet weather has continued. This has resulted in many people dealing with mold. It has been a challenging yet learning experience. We are grateful for the warmth of the sun anytime. Let’s remember that it continues to shine behind the clouds even if we can’t see it….
Specials for October include fresh, organic Apple Cider and a new item ~ raw Honey Mustard Sauce made with ground mustard, honey, vinegar and water. Add to cubed meat, marinate 12-24 hours (or more) and enjoy. It is delicious with chicken ~ a great marinade or sauce even if the meat is cooked. Other new items are A-2 Cows’ Milk Kefir ~ made like our regular kefir but exclusively using A-2 milk. Be sure to specify A-2 when ordering. It is offered in both glass and plastic bottles. Chicken Lentil and Chicken Minestrone Soup ~ found under Chicken. These are great options for quick, nutritious meals.
Our supply of potatoes and red beets is dwindling. The tomatoes are still producing well due to being in a green house. They would not appreciate all this rain if outdoors but even so, they will likely make a fast change one of these weeks so order now! We have a number of sweet potatoes that have small holes from insects eating them. We are offering those as seconds at a reduced price.
Take note of price changes in seafood and chicken categories. Some prices are reduced due to excess inventory. Also, we are now offering keta salmon in addition to sockeye. Keta is lighter in color, milder in flavor and has a lower fat content than sockeye.

October Recipe
RAW Honey Mustard Chicken
1 lb. fresh, raw chicken breast (cubed) 1 8-oz. Honey Mustard Sauce
Prepare chicken and place in a jar. Pour sauce on top and stir well. Let set for 12-24 hours. By thinking ahead a day or so, you will have a quick, delicious meal ready in minutes. Enjoy! 😊
