It has recently come to my attention that one clear villain in the story of our lives is Glyphosate. If you don’t know, it is an ingredient in Round-up, long used as a weed killer. Before 1996, it was used only by individuals. according to Dr. Zach Bush, in 1996, 4% of our population had chronic illness. ( see Farmersfootprint.us)

In 1996 Round-up was promoted to broad farming use. Monsanto genetically modified plants to be resistant to Round-up, and it began to be used for those crops to kill weeds. Currently it is used to dry up grains at the time of harvest, killing the plants, so that all the grain will be ready at the same time, thus increasing the amount of grain harvested. Seems like a good idea, but the Glyphosate in the weed killer also kills the living organisms in the soil, and basically, kills the ability of the soil to feed the plants. Bacteria and small animals are necessary to release minerals from the soil, and create vitamins and digest dead matter, making the nutrients available to the plants.

Glyphosate interferes with the absorption and use of manganese, a necessary mineral for energy production. As it is still present in the grain after harvest, we and our animals are eating this chemical. Whole herds of hogs have died from this, and the health of our cattle and the plants in the field has deteriorated. Glycerine from these animals is used in vaccines and Tylenol.

Our Autism rate follows the use of Glyphosate. Where the chronic illness overall in 1996 was 4%, currently 46% of our children have chronic illness.

Every time you give in and eat commercial flour, in bread or hamburger buns, you add this to your diet. It kills the bacteria in your gut too. Sticking to Organic and non-GMO is not just a lifestyle choice, but a Life choice. Non GMO  and organic is important because you have less likelihood of Glyphosate contamination.

There are a number of groups moving toward traditional farming practices, like those of our farmers. We are definitely in the van, the head, of the food movement. Our food doesn’t get near any Glyphosate.

So get some beef, bison, or even sausage from our farms, milk, cottage cheese soo good! A2 milk and cream, yogurt and make ice cream! Or blend up some fruit with the yogurt.

Use non- grain flours to make treats, like cassava or hazelnut flour.

Butter puddings, nut and dates or honey ground up make great desserts and treats.

Check out our whole list of things to get before you get any commercial products for visiting family, or your picky eaters.

Summer is here! Enjoy!

Healthfully Yours,
